The EMJ (European Music Festival for Young People) in Neerpelt (April 27th – May 2nd) is happy to announce that for its 66th edition, there will be 96 choirs participating from 24 countries. This number is practically the same as the years before, which implies that we are looking forward to welcoming some 4000 youngsters. It also goes to show that the EMJ remains the epicenter for young people to meet, and appreciate each other through music.
The times that the EMJ was a festival for European participants only, is long gone. This 66th edition , a vocal one, hosts, again, participants from other parts of the world. Take for instance, choirs from Ecuador (South America) and Israel (Asia). With over 30 ensembles, Flanders represents the highest number of participants. Following tradition, The Netherlands, Germany and East European countries, like the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Russia will again send quite some groups to Neerpelt. A full list of participating choirs can be found under ‘2018’ on www.emj.be.
