Ever since 1960, participants to the vocal editions of the EMJ will have to perform compulsory pieces by the hands of Flemish composers. For the 66th edition (April 27th – May 2nd 2018) seven new pieces were composed for the different series. These songs are a valuable benchmark for the evaluation of the participating choirs and are a healthy challenge for the Flemish composers to show their work globally. Practicing and performing these songs are a good opportunity for the participating choirs to become acquainted with Flemish choral music and their composers.
To give the groups an idea of the compulsory pieces they will have to sing, they can already find a small part of each song on the EMJ website via this link.
End of December, all groups, registered in one or more series, will receive the full scores concerned.
Groups participating in series G will have to perform their own, original arrangement of the folk song "t Ros Beyaard". They will receive their score upon registration.
