EMJ takes leave of Mr Vic Nees, our inspirator and friend

While preparing the 61st edition of EMJ, we lost a faithful inspirator and friend. On March 14, 2013 Mr. Vic Nees passed away after a lingering disease. He was one of Flanders' greatest choral music composers, and as such he was requested to be part of the international jury in 1968. It was then that he wrote his first compulsory song for the vocal edition of EMJ.

All these years he was happy to accomplish his task on a voluntary basis. He even became a member of our Advising Committee, powerfully driving and inspiring our Festival as a friend to staff, co-operators as well a to participants. His professional advice was highly appreciated. His critical vision invaluably added to help EMJ grow worldwide. Until 2006 Mr. Nees kept composing various compulsory songs. With the support of EMJ Nees's work is valued and performed all around the world.
