While the European Music Festival for Young People mainly is an indoor event, it was also laid in the sunny streets of the town centre on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Sun-lovers enjoyed the warmth on their skin on the many terraces of the cafés where they were pleasantly surprised by the merry tunes of young musicians, spontaneously playing their music out in the streets and on the pavements. A happy mix of youth, music, sun and cosiness.
Still at the same time the jury performances were going on in the nine concert halls. One would wonder whether there were any listeners inside? Indeed there were, the seats were taken up to 90%. Not bad for a sunny day in spring!
It got even better, cosier and hotter when the parade of the participants on their way to the proclamation of the prizes took to the streets in the centre of the town. We noticed how young musicians from Hong Kong, Neerpelt, Montabaur, Haag and so many other places in Europe and other continents sang, jumped, cheered and danced their way through thousands of spectators. Sheer beauty to the eyes!
