Friday May 3 at 8.00 pm, "A Taste of Neerpelt" starts on the Market Place of Neerpelt. This openening event is a co-operative production of EMY and its cultural partners, the town-council of Neerpelt and local traders and organisations. Everbody is welcome from 8.00 pm on in the market square of Neerpelt to enjoy music and food. Neerpelt and EMY will be bubbling as from the very first minute on.
Punctually at 8 p.m. carillon-player Jan Verheyen of "vzw Beiaard Neerpelt" will, from the tower of St.-Nicholaschurch, chime the existing church-bells to introduce "A Taste of Neerpelt" thus reviving the centuries old tradition of ringing the bells. Ensembles from Belgium, Russia, China and Poland will take care of the musical highlights:. Culinary highlights will be provided for by Neerpelt traders.

At nightfall the Tol Theatre-group did lounch its dancing angels and musicians into the sky. The balancing angels will provide for a strong feeling of togetherness between heaven and earth, ultimately resulting into a spectacular mix of film, song, dance and fireworks.
Because of its gigantic success, next year's Festival, is not complete without a new edition of "A Taste of Neerpelt".
