On March 10, 2012 at a short press-conference it was announced that Rutger Nuyts will be the new president of the European Music Festival for Young People. For the 60th festival-edition Rutger will co-preside together with current president Jan Coninx. After 10 years of presidency Jan has decided to step aside because of a health-problem. After the 60th festival Rutger will take the lead completely.
Rutger Nuyts is quite familiar with the Festival. He has been a multitasking volunteer ever since he was a boy; he used to lend a hand getting concert-halls ready, he was a host, he became dedicated board-member and co-ordinated the festival backstage. It pleases Jan Coninx to know that a first-rate successor was found among the many people involved in the festival.
