Enrolment for participation in the 62nd edition of EMY, from May 1 to May 5, 2014, has been closed. It is time to strike a balance. The 2014 Festival will host 3600 participants i.e. 101 choirs and free ensembles from 28 European and non-European countries. Though he organizers are used to handling so many visitors every year, this time the number of countries is unusual. Only the 50th edition attracted youngsters from 30 countries.
True to tradition Belgium outnumbers the participating choirs, but also Russia and the Czech Republic send an impressive number of groups to Neerpelt. The non-European participants this year are Japan and China.
More than 2000 participants will be accommodated in holiday villages, youth hostels and host-families in and around Neerpelt. The EMY catering team has meanwhile figured out that they will have to provide an odd 20.000 breakfasts and lunches.
